CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

 

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION DEADLINE

Friday, November 10th, 2017– 12:00 midnight Indochina Time (ICT)

This inaugural national scientific conference on medical education in Vietnam seeks to provide a forum for sharing innovations and advances in medical education in Vietnam and the Southeast Asian Region.  The conference aims to stimulate discussions among medical education leaders, inspire further innovations, and foster a community of medical educators invested in advancing medical education research and quality improvement. 

In soliciting abstracts, the planning committee has the following objectives:

1.      Provide a forum for sharing innovations and advances in medical education in Vietnam

and the Southeast Asian Region

2.      Stimulate discussions among medical education leaders

3.      Spread successes and inspire innovation

4.      Nurture a community of medical educators invested in advancing medical education research and quality improvement in Vietnam and the Southeast Asian Region

The conference is currently soliciting abstracts around the following four thematic areas:

1.      Training medical students and trainees to enhance professionalism, communication, and the doctor-patient relationship

This session aims to share effective strategies for teaching medical students humanistic and professional behavior.  The session may include topics such as models of training medical students to enhance the doctor-patient relationship, descriptions of educational programs intended to promote humanism in medical universities, and strategies for developing, assessing, and communicating professionalism.

2.      Fostering active learning in medical education

This session aims to provide insight into innovative pedagogical methods that fit within the context of Vietnam and the Southeast Asian region. The session may include topics such as different approaches to integrate active learning methods into medical education, innovative pedagogic strategies in resource constrained settings and incorporation of technology to enhancing learning.

3.      Best practices in assessment and evaluation in medical education

This session aims to highlight best practices in student assessment and evaluation.The session may include topics such as experiences in implementation of student assessment programs.

4.      Innovations in undergraduate medical education and clinical training

This session aims to share best practices in clinical training in the region and globally. The session may include topics such as examples of programs piloting/implementing innovative and non-traditional medical education and clinical training models.

ABSTRACT EVALUATION

All abstract should be in a single Microsoft Word file and uploaded at the following site: http://medicaleducationconf.haivn.org/abstract-submission.

All submissions will be evaluated for completeness, strength of contribution to health professions education and relevance to the Innovations in Medical Education: Preparing the 21st Century Physician Conference. 

Submissions will be notified of acceptance decision on November 17th, 2017.

CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS

Conference Proceedings will be published in the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy’s Scientific Journal.  An entire issue, “Innovations in Medical Education” will be devoted to the proceedings, and selected abstracts and manuscripts generated from the Conference.
